PEACE SUMMIT
Responding to the violence that wreaked havoc in Kenya in 2007 after the presidential election, the Kenya Evangelical Lutheran Church (KELC) will host an inter-denominational youth peace summit from April 13-18 in Nairobi. The meeting will provide a platform for reflecting on the post-election violence and develop youth-led peace building processes geared toward addressing factors that fuel violence in Kenya and wider horn of Africa. more

Visitors From Germany
KELC was blessed with the presence of 11 visitors from partner church district in Rantzau-Muensterdorf, Germany. The Visitors stayed in Kenya for two weeks in the month of October. Rev. Thorsten Pachnicke, the district pastor, headed the delegation. The group visited various tourists spots of interest in Kenya during their first week before dividing into smaller groups to make home visits in three of KELC’s parishes: Malindi, Mombasa, and Taveta. more |

Purpose of women before God.....
September 5, 2009, the Women’s Group of Mathare Parish in Nairobi held their annual seminar. Thirty-five women attended this year’s seminar, titled “The Purpose of Women Before God.” Guest speakers were Ev. Willbard Mwanry, Ev. Sifael Akyo, and Rev. Joyceline Njama (ELCT pastor) all from Tanzania. The Women’s Group is led by Eva Lyatw, chairlady; Carol Shoo, secretary; Monica Moshi, treasurer; and Monica David, Jerusalem parish worker. more |
