Malindi Parish has opened the 15th branch.

With the baptizm of 20 children and a Holy Communion the two Malindi Pastors have opened the 15th branch of the Malindi Parish. So Pastor Horst Seeger, Pastor in Charge and Pastor Harrison Shikuku together with a team of co-workers concluded an evangelisation of 4 days in the village of Malanga with this step. They all are happy and thankful about the growth of their parish. Since 2003 the parish grew from 8 branches to now 15. And if it is God's will it will go on: the opening of the next three branches in the Marafa Division of the District is in preparation.

KELC involved in the ELCA Uganda Documentary

The Evangelical Lutheran church in America (ELCA) mosaic film crew visited northern Uganda to make a documentary on the twenty years conflict of the Lord Resistant Army (LRA). Mr. George Arende from KELC participated and traveled with the film crew on the mission to Uganda.

The situation at the over-crowded camps is unfortunate and shocking. Women and children are the worst hit. People at the camp are faced daily with life threatening conditions which include: lack of toilets and sanitation problems, HIV/AIDS; cholera & TB outbreak. Many families have been forced to abandon their homes for fear of being abducted by the LRA rebels or being raped. Children do not attend school while the few who do, go to nearby schools next to the camps which are over-crowded and lack desks and chairs. Majority of the girls at the camp are ‘young mothers’ taking care of their siblings and hence miss out on education

IDP CAMPS

The Aerial view of the (IDP)Internally Displaced Persons camps in Northern Uganda

Everyone living in Kitgum –Northern Uganda has a story, or knows friends, relatives or neighbors who have fallen prey to the torture of the LRA. LWF and other international organizations working in the region face challenges of in-security in their effort to provide food and other basic needs in the area.
The peace talks in Juba shed little light of hope to many people at the congested camps and all they have to do is pray and keep hoping for God’s intervention to the twenty years conflict.
