While under the E.L.C.T; the Kenya Synod being one of its Synods and Dioceses, was related to the Lutheran World Federation (LWF), Lutheran Coordination Service (LCS), The World Council of churches (WCC) and All Africa Conference of churches (AACC).In addition to this, was a member of the National Council of churches of Kenya (NCCK).Due to the Kenya synod becoming an independent entity from the E.L.C.T; membership to the first four organizations (LWF,LCS, WCC and AACC) ceased. However, attempts were made in order to maintain the relationship with the said organizations.

At this juncture, I am glad to report that the AACC admitted us to the list of its Pan-African Christian Family, while the LWF, to the list of its universal ecumenical family to which we are very grateful. The WCC admitted us as associate members for the time being.In place of the LCS, a new body was formed. This is the Joint Mission Committee for Kenya (JMCK).

The members of the JMCK are: The Mission Department of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Bavaria, The Northelbian Centre for World Mission, and the Deanery of Niederberg all from Germany. The Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, The Women Mission Workers from Sweden, the Evangelical Lutheran church in Tanzania and the Kenya Evangelical Lutheran Church. The Lutheran World Federation is an associate member.
