Women making baskets for a living
The Hand Stretch Program started off in April 2000, and it is a project that assists the parents whose children are currently in Pangani Lutheran Children's center Project and who were formally street children.

Although the children were assisted by the Project, their parents burden was not over since plcc was only providing for a single child in each family while the rest continued to suffer. So, it is to that effect that we decided to start the Hand Stretch Program.

We have two groups: those who received loans for expansion of there business, and those without to venture into one.

The Hand Stretch Program creates awareness on issues of good management and productivity among the parents. It is a very ideal activity for skill development through which we have built rapport with the various households through home visitations and group discussions.
